Brian Kersten Veterinarian

Brian Kersten, Wisconsin's journey into veterinary medicine, began on a farm in Appleton, Wisconsin, where his formative years among animals ignited a passion for their care. This early exposure led him to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the University of Minnesota, where he graduated with high distinction in 1977, setting the stage for a notable career in veterinary medicine.

In 2021, recognizing a gap in affordable pet care, he established the Mercy Veterinary Service in Baldwin, Wisconsin. As the founder and head veterinarian, he focuses on small animal medicine, surgery, and dentistry, aiming to provide quality care at reduced costs. This clinic is a vital resource for pet owners facing financial hardships, ensuring their pets can receive necessary medical attention.

Additionally, he serves the community as a relief veterinarian in Amery, Wisconsin, where he assists various veterinary practices and ensures that high standards of animal care are maintained throughout the region.

After obtaining his veterinary degree in 1983, he initially worked in a mixed animal practice in Burlington, Wisconsin, where he acquired a broad range of veterinary skills. In 1985, he dedicated himself to international aid by working for two and a half years in Haiti, helping the rural communities with both their human and veterinary needs.

Upon returning to the U.S. in 1987, he joined a mixed animal practice in Baldwin, which he eventually purchased in 2001. Here, he enhanced the practice's services significantly. He also took on a leadership role as the President of the Pierce St. Croix Humane Society from 2001 to 2003, advocating for animal welfare at the community level.
